In 1955, Crockett Johnson wrote the children's book “Harold and the Purple Crayon”, the story of a boy who drew imaginative adventures to find his way. This year’s 2026 Spring Rally planners have used Harold’s inspiration to create the “Harold and the Magenta Crayon” Spring Rally. There will be 3 days and 2 nights of driving and socializing for us to enjoy after Minnesota’s long winter. Instead of a crayon, we’ll be following our Garmin’s magenta lines through western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota to find our own fun and adventures.
On Friday, we’ll be starting in Hastings, MN and heading to Wisconsin as we take in springtime and wind our way along the magenta line to lunch at the Corral Bar and Grill in Durand, WI. Afterwards, we’ll follow the magenta twists and turns to Stoney Creek Hotel in Onalaska, WI where we’ll spend both Friday and Saturday nights with dinner and fun. Saturday morning’s drive will include lots of squiggly magenta lines as we smile through southwestern Wisconsin. Sunday will cap off the weekend with a more meandering and enjoyable magenta line as we make our way through Minnesota to the rally’s end with lunch on your own at Dan’s Bar and Grill in New Trier, MN.
Start location and time: Holiday Station Store, 12370 Point Douglas Drive South, Hastings, MN at the intersection of MN-61 and US Hwy 10 north of the Mississippi River. See Google Map link below. Friday Driver’s Meeting will start at 8:40am with the first group rolling out at 9:00am.
Touring Group: For those preferring a more relaxing pace, especially through technical sections, a touring group is offered. Please select this option in the registration process if you like.
For Saturday dinner come dressed in your finest magenta or purple attire for a fun evening of food and dice games with friends.

Registration is open through April 15 for Miata Club of Minnesota members. Cost is $90 per person and must be paid at the time of registration via the club website. Friday lunch, Friday dinner, and Saturday dinner are included in the registration fee. A cash bar is available for Friday and Saturday dinners.
