Hope it Doesn‘t Snow Drive
Our first official drive to kick off the 2024 driving season will be the Hope it Doesn’t Snow Drive scheduled for Saturday, May 4th. You may be thinking that with the way this winter went we shouldn’t have to “hope it doesn’t snow” this year but don’t forget we live in Minnesota so anything can happen!
The drive this year will be very similar to last year’s drive with a few tweaks.
We will start at the Holiday Station, 12370 Point Douglas Dr S, Hastings, MN. At 10:00 AM for a 10:30 AM departure. We will be heading east to County Road O then crossing the river in Red Wing. From there we will be heading southwest to Vasa, MN to run County Road 7 north through Welch Village. Then, after a quick run up and down County Road 19, we will finish the drive at about 12:30 in Miesville at Kings Place, maybe the best burger place in Minnesota.

Please register if you will be staying for lunch so the restaurant can plan accordingly.

A GPS file will be available a few days before the drive.

We look forward to having you joining us!

Join us in Tomah WI, home to the Gasoline Alley comic strip, for this year‘s Miata Spring Rally May 17th - May 19th. Gasoline Alley was the nickname for Superior Avenue in Tomah, when automobiles were becoming popular and you could find a gas station on almost every corner as a convenient refueling spot for travel between the Twin Cities and Chicago. Chicago Tribune Cartoonist Frank King started the Gasoline Alley comic strip in 1918 based on people from his home town of Tomah. A year later, in 1919 it was judged as the best cartoon of the year. This year‘s rally provides great roads, beautiful scenery, delicious food and a chance to laugh with friends.

The registration fee is $80.00 per person. This will include:
Friday pizza buffet lunch at Buzz‘s Bar and Grill in Mondovi, WI on our way to Tomah.
Welcome reception buffet on Friday evening at the Cranberry Lodge provided by Wetlands Catering. A cash bar will be available.
Buffet dinner on Saturday evening, again provided by Wetlands Catering, along with a caricature artist and ventriloquist to get us laughing. All participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite cartoon character for Saturday‘s dinner. A cash bar will be available.
Saturday and Sunday lunches will be on your own.

There is a block of 45 rooms available at the scenic Cranberry Country Lodge. Prices vary depending on the type of room requested. Rates include a free hot breakfast from 7:00-10:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Rooms can be reserved by calling 800-243-9874 or 608-374-2801. Be sure to request the Maita Club block rate when you call. By pre-registering when you call, you will just need to show a picture ID at check in to pick up your key. Please note that not all rooms have elevator access, so please make sure your needs are met when you call to register.

The deadline for both hotel reservations and club registration and payment is April 17, 2024. After that date, the club registration fee is non-refundable.
